Zip Disk Recovery & Data Conversion
One of our less called for services now is the Data Recovery or Conversion of Data from Zip Disks. These were popular ten years ago as they held far more data than the then standard Floppy Disk. However due to advances in flash technology they declined in popularity and now their storage capacity of 100MB or 250MB seems very small in comparison to even the smallest capacity USB Memory Sticks or SD cards.
Zip disks are likely to fail owing to physical damage or exposure to magnetic items so our advice is to always ensure the disk is NEVER exposed to any source of magnetism, such a source would be a mobile phone, something not often considered!
We
are market leaders in the conversion and recovery of failed Zip Disks and to date we
have an enviable 100% recovery rate on both Zip 100 and Zip 250 Disk types. We
can recover these from the following failure types:
* Disks with the "click Click" sound
* "device not recognised" error message
* CRC Errors - Cyclic Redundancy Check
* "drive error"
* initialisation failures
In these incidences the data, once recovered, is return on either a 4GB Kingston Data Traveler G2 thus upgrading you to the latest flash media products or be downloaded form our secure servers.
